Columbia, Mo. - The No. 14 Tiger Gymnastics squad posted its season best score for the third consecutive meet, putting up a 195.800, topping the previous high set last week versus UIC. With the score, the Tigers won the second annual W.G. Grinders Beauty and the Beast over the Centenary Ladies 195.800 - 192.325. Sophomore Sarah Shire (Columbia, Mo.) set a personal record as well, putting up a 39.500 in the all-around, winning it handily. 6,308 fans packed the Hearnes center to watch the Tigers top the Ladies. The attendance set the Beauty and the Beast mark and ranks 12th in Tiger Gymnastics history. The Tigers started on vault, posting a 48.675. Sophomore Sarah Shire (Columbia, Mo.) scored a team high 9.875. Adrianne Perry (Columbia, Mo.) posted a 9.800 on vault to finish second while Alex Gold (Plano, Texas) scored a 9.725 to finish in third. The uneven bars were the high point of the meet for the Tigers. After struggling mightily in the first few meets of the season, the Tigers put it together for a season high on bars, just missing the school record with a score of 49.375. The record is 49.400 set a Texas Women's College in 2004. Every Tiger in the lineup posted at least a 9.825 while Perry (Columbia, Mo.) posted a 9.925, a new personal record. Five of the six Tigers in the lineup either tied or set career bests on bars. Senior Ashley Khederian (Carlisle, Mass.) and sophomore Liz Straatmann (Washington, Mo.) both set highs with a 9.825 and 9.875, respectively. Becky Scholle (Chesterfield, Mo.) and Alicia Hatcher (Blue Springs, Mo.) both tied their career high marks of 9.850 and 9.875, respectively. Taking a huge lead into the third rotation, the Tigers posted a 48.475 on beam, led by Shire and Hatchers 9.850's on the event. The two tied for the title on the event. Sophomore Brooke Boehmer (Overland Park, Kan.) notched a 9.800, finishing third on the beam. The Tigers led the Ladies 146.525 - 143.375 heading into the final rotation. Gold had another good performance on floor for the Tigers, setting a career high 9.850. Shire put up a 9.925 on floor, taking home the event title and giving her four titles on the night. Shire now has 14 event titles on the season, the most of any Tiger. With the scores on floor, Mizzou set a season high with a score of 49.275. Perry and sophomore Danielle Guider (Nutley, N.J.) both rebounded from stumbles on beam and posted big scores for the Tigers. Guider tallied a 9.725 while Perry earned the runner up spot on the event, scoring a 9.900.
