         <description><![CDATA[Missouri Tiger football fans were challenged to give to a worthy cause recently at the Black & Gold Spring Game, and on April 19th, they did just that, and then some. Asked to bring three canned food items to the game for the Central Missouri Food Bank, Tiger fans donated just under 14,000 pounds of food for the organization, while the MU Department of Athletics added a $2,500 donation. The food donation by fans is more than twice that of the previous record of just under 7,000 pounds collected at an MU spring football game.]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[At the breakfast, Director of Athletic Academic Services Dr. Joe Scogin indicated that the past year has been marked by outstanding success in the classroom for Tiger student-athletes. Scogin said that the most recent winter and fall semester grade point averages were 2.88 and 2.81, respectively, for all MU student-athletes, which were both just shy of school records, while approximately 50 percent of MU's nearly 500 student athletes achieved a 3.0 grade point average or better during both of the last two terms (Winter, `07 and Fall, '07). Mizzou had 224 student-athletes named to the Big 12 Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll, and enjoyed a record 170 student-athletes named to their respective dean's list during the fall of 2007.]]></description>
