Liz Peterson enters her second season with the Missouri Track & Field staff, serving as a volunteer assistant coach.
Peterson was a heptathlete for the Tigers and was a four-time All-Big 12 performer. Peterson, a team co-captain, was also a pole vaulter and remains in the Missouri all-time top five in the event.
Peterson became the first female athlete at Missouri to compete in a decathlon event and set the first school record of 6,019 points at the 2005 Audrey Walton Combined Events. Peterson grabbed a new personal best in the heptathlon with a score of 4,848 points at the 2006 Drake Relays.
Peterson graduated from Missouri with a degree in nutrition and fitness and was a USTFCCCA All-Academic Award winner while at Mizzou.
Peterson, the former Liz Young, is married to 2004 Olympian Derrick Peterson and has two children, Issac (6) and Athena (1).

2006:
Outdoor: Finished fourth and earned first heptathlon All-Big 12 honors at Big 12 Outdoor meet with career-best score of 4,908.
Indoor: Placed sixth and earned pentathlon All-Big 12 honors for the first time in her career at Big 12 Indoor meet ... winner of the Missouri All-Comers high jump event.
2005:
Outdoor: Became the first Missouri woman to ever compete in a women's decathlon, doing so at the Walton Combined Events ... finished 12th at the Big 12 Outdoor in the heptathlon with a season-best 4,525 ... secured a new personal best in the 100-meter hurdles (14.55) and javelin (82-5) at the conference meet ... USTCA All-Academic award winner
Indoor: All-Big 12 with a seventh-place finish in the pentathlon at the confernce indoor meeting, scoring 3,431 points ... new pentathlon personal best came a the Iowa State Classic with a NCAA-provisional score of 3,734, finishing in the top 50 in the nation ... grabbed a new PR in the 60-meter hurdles (9.34) and shot put (35-1 3/4) at the Iowa State meet as well.
2004:
Outdoor: Pole vaulted to Mizzou's all-time top five with a vault of 12-1½ (3.70m) at the Nebraska Quadrangular ... placed 10th at the Big 12 Championships in the heptathlon with season-best score of 4,494.
Indoor: Entered into the Missouri all-time top five in the pole vault with indoor personal best of 11-11¾ (3.65m) ... placed ninth at the Husker Invitational pentathlon, 12th at the Big 12 Championships.
2003:
Outdoor: All-Big 12 and NCAA Regional qualifier in the high jump after sixth place, personal best performance of 5-8¾ in the high jump ... finished ninth in the heptathlon with a score of 4,842 in the Big 12 Championships.
Indoor: Participated in the high jump and heptathlon at the Big 12 Championships.
2002:
Outdoor: Redshirt season.
High School: A state champion as a member of 4x800-meter relay team for the Crusaders in 2000 ... runner-up at the state meet in the high jump her junior year ... in 2000, was all-state in the 4x800 relay, 4x400 relay, 300-meter hurdles, and the high jump event ... also an all-district, all-conference volleyball player.
Personal: Daughter of John & Mary Ann Young ... majoring in nutrition & fitness ... psychology and anthropology minors ... formally Liz Young, married Missouri Olympian Derrick Peterson in October 2005 ... has a son, Issac, that was born October 9, 2001 ... wants to get a research teaching degree after receiving a undergraduate degree ... born December 4, 1982 in Jefferson City, Mo.
